Summer Story

     During my summer my family and few other friends went to Lake Conroe, Texas for an end of the summer get away. While we were there we did many lake activities such as fishing off the dock, canoeing, swimming, and we rented a boat. Today I'm going to talk about our boat rental experience. We rented a pontoon boat which was advertised as a performance package. We picked this package because we decided we would go tubing. When the boat first got back to the house the young children got to go first. When they got back they told us the boat was a little slow, but we did not care because we still got to go tubing. The boat was extremely slow, but none the less the tubing was fun. However we got to half a tank of gas and decided we would go to the boat rental place and get gas and then we could tube around closer to the place.

     On our way to the boat rental place we pulled in the tube because the water started to get rough. Eventually after a few minutes of slow traveling (about 10 MPH because the engine kept cutting in and out) the boat decided it wanted to take us for a little ride and nose dived in to the water. Naturally everyone ran to the back to straighten the boat out. Afterwards we had all 4 adults sitting in the back while the 6 kids sat in the middle-front. After our roller coaster ride we slowed to about 5 MPH. After about 30 minutes the boat decided it wanted to make sure we were still awake and nose dove again this time a little more severe than the last. Everyone ran to the back to straighten the boat out. The boat leveled out and we put 2 kids in the back to make sure it did not happen again. After about another hour we were about 200 yards away from the boat rental place the boat decided it was done and nose dove a third time this time at a 45 degree angle. I'm going to be real for a second I thought I was going to die right there.

    This was such a fun story to read! I loved how much detail you went into, it made the story more interesting.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Some of my strengths are my ability to add vivid detail at times when I feel necessary. This can help with almost all types of writing. In personal narratives it helps the reader feel like they are witnessing the event. In literary analysis I can describe the effect something has on the story very well. In research papers I can describe events and the effects of the events in great detail. Some of my weaknesses are not being able to understand the deeper meaning in certain things. Sometimes I can understand the deeper meaning in things just fine but other times I just think we are over analyzing it and there is nothing deep at all. But I can work on this by continuing to make connections and relate things with deeper meanings to modern day and things I understand so I understand them.
