Response to Mint Snowball

     I think Mint Snowball was not a bad story, but after about the third time I read it it had become old. I really liked the Naomi Shihab Nye used incomplete sentences to affect the way the reader read and understood the story. Another thing that struck me as interesting was the amount vivid detail. It clearly painted a picture in the reader's mind. But like I said after the third time I read it the lust of the appropriate incomplete sentences and vivid detail wore off. 

     Mint Snowball is narrative, this means that  it is based on a personal story that the author has experienced and how it has affected their life. In this particular narrative the author vividly recalls the details of the setting in the story. In Mint Snowball the author talks about a long lost mint snowball recipe, and how it has affected her life. I don't particularly enjoy narratives but this one was okay. I look forward to reading more of Naomi Shihab Nye's works.

     I chose this prompt because I think listening closely to lyrics can either make or break a song. This message and what the artist is saying or describing is the most important thing about a song. Strengths and Weaknesses

Some of my strengths are my ability to add vivid detail at times when I feel necessary. This can help with almost all types of writing. In personal narratives it helps the reader feel like they are witnessing the event. In literary analysis I can describe the effect something has on the story very well. In research papers I can describe events and the effects of the events in great detail. Some of my weaknesses are not being able to understand the deeper meaning in certain things. Sometimes I can understand the deeper meaning in things just fine but other times I just think we are over analyzing it and there is nothing deep at all. But I can work on this by continuing to make connections and relate things with deeper meanings to modern day and things I understand so I understand them.

Summer Story

     During my summer my family and few other friends went to Lake Conroe, Texas for an end of the summer get away. While we were there we did many lake activities such as fishing off the dock, canoeing, swimming, and we rented a boat. Today I'm going to talk about our boat rental experience. We rented a pontoon boat which was advertised as a performance package. We picked this package because we decided we would go tubing. When the boat first got back to the house the young children got to go first. When they got back they told us the boat was a little slow, but we did not care because we still got to go tubing.
